The Friends’ Bookstore at Central

Pay a bargain price for gently used bestsellers and other  titles you might not find  on the library shelves.

Prices range, but most paperbacks cost 50 cents and hardbacks cost $2.00. We also sell some premium or “collection-worthy” items.

We’ve recently added Saturday hours (noon to 4 p.m.). Stop by!

Patio Book Sales

On occasion, big book sales are held on second Saturday of the month, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Find us on the East Patio of Central Library,  285 E. Walnut St., Pasadena.

Our selection changes with each sale, so you’re sure to find some amazing items. Some will be marked half-price; sometimes we even sell books by the bag. That’s a true bargain, so come to the sales.

Book Donations

  • Donations can be made anytime in the Book Donation receptacle at the Central Library, delivery area, northeast side of the building, adjacent to the Accessible Entrance. Donations are also accepted in our Bookstore at the Central Library from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and noon – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.We accept:
  • Hardback and paperback books in good, clean condition, including Children’s and Young Adult books
  • Commercially published media (CDs and DVDs; no VHS, please)
  • Comic books and graphic novels
  • Sheet music
  • Art prints and posters (framed or unframed)
  • Audio books
  • Postcards and complete puzzles in original boxes
